From August 24 to 26, ZEW Mannheim hosted this year's EARIE Summer School on Market Design, taught by Nikhil Agarwal (MIT). Twenty-six PhD students and early-career researchers from Europe, Asia, and the Americas gathered for three days of lectures and discussions ahead of the 53rd EARIE Annual Conference.

Lectures covered The Economist as Engineer; Mechanisms, Preferences, and What the Data Reveal; School Choice; Kidney Exchange; Environmental Markets; and Human-AI Collaboration, and What We Have Learned.

The Summer School was organized by the EARIE 2026 local organizing committee and marked the opening of EARIE 2026, which continued at the Mannheim Palace from August 26 to 28.
