Experts Discuss Various Topics on the Economics of Government Procurement at ZEW Workshop

On 23 October 2020, the second edition of the ZEW Workshop on Economics of Public Procurement took place virtually. The event provided a forum for recent high-quality research in the economic analysis of government procurement by bringing together empirical economists with different backgrounds working in the field.

Topics ranged from the bureaucratic incentives of allocation decisions in public procurement to the analysis of both the role of public procurement as a strategic policy instrument and the efficacy of various types of remedies to decrease inefficiencies in government purchases. The workshop featured a keynote speech by Elena Krasnokutskaya, associate professor at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, USA.
