MaCCI/EPoS Fireside Talk on Adam Smith and American Capitalism

In our second Fireside Talk, Martin Peitz talked to Glory Liu (Harvard) about her upcoming book “Adam Smith's America: How a Scottish Philosopher Became an Icon of American Capitalism.”

In her book, the author touches upon the various interpretations of Smith's philosophy throughout history, his association with free trade and the free market, and how his thoughts were politicized. Dr. Liu analyzes the transformation of a humble moral philosopher into a symbol of American capitalism starting from "The Wealth of Nations" through the industrial revolution, the Chicago School of Economics, and his prominent role in modern economic education.
